Qualifications: Education:

  • Close or recent Graduate in Plant Science related fields.

Skills:

  • Basic Computer skills

Responsibilities:

  • As an Intern Watermelon Breeding program; you create chemistry by,· Leveraging your knowledge in the field of agronomy, seed science, plant science, or a related discipline to build your experience in hybrid seed production/research, seed production/quality assurance.
  • You will under the direction of Watermelon breeder and breeding specialist to achieve Watermelon breeding needs. ·
  • Your agronomic knowledge of crop production systems will be essential as you conduct data collection, seed harvesting, sow and planting.·
  • Your effective written and verbal communication skills will serve you well as you participate in weekly meetings.·
  • Applying your mastery of technical skills associated with personal computers such as Excel and Word, you will accurately document and maintain field notes in internal record system.·
  • Your unwavering commitment to compliance will be evident as you complete stewardship, safety and other trainings required for Watermelon breeding.·
  • Working well as a team player, you will assist as needed with other assignments as directed by Breeder or breeding specialist.

Your formula for success:

  • Hold or be working toward a Bachelor's preferably specializing in Crop Science or related discipline.·
  • Communication and human relations skills are necessary to perform the duties of the position.·
  • Analytical and creative skills are needed to manage and resolve complex duties when necessary.
