Must Have:

  • Masters degree, 3+ years of ocular experience in industry setting or PHD Strongly preferred;
  • 0-2 years Post Doc experience, need to have in school or ocular disease experience is required.
  • In school experience will be acceptable, as long as in occ research background
  • Molecular biology lab-based skills
  • Any ocular research experience is a must have
  • Presentation skills
  • Protein and nucleic assays

Preferred/ Nice to Have skills:

  • Including in vivo and in vitro ocular models.
  • Gene therapy preferred
  • Histology experience
  • Automation experience

Scientist Ocular Genomic Medicines, Genomics Medicine Unit

We are seeking a laboratory facing Scientist to be part of a team focused on the development of novel gene therapy technologies for the treatment of ocular disease.,

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead research projects to support the identification of therapeutic candidates from discovery into IND enabling studies.
  • Execute studies to generate proof of concept data.
  • Apply expertise to design, develop scientific activities/projects to identify therapeutic candidates.
  • Demonstrate scientific excellence, initiate, design, and execute experiments/studies in support of goals in a time sensitive manner.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal teams and be an impactful contributor and member of project teams.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree plus minimum 3 years relevant experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Ph.D. with 0-2 years Post Doc experience
  • Strong background in ocular disease biology including in vivo and in vitro ocular models.
  • Strong background in molecular biology lab-based skills
  • Background/experience in gene therapy preferred
  • Experience in preparing high quality documents including technical reports, presentations, and experimental protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, enthusiastic and fast learner who pays close attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible and pivot with changing priority of pace and projects.
